Leri Greer is a Senior Concept Designer at Weta Workshop. Leri spent his formative years in the West African nation of Liberia. When Leri’s family moved to California, his mind had to try to reconcile the weird things he’d seen and learned in Liberia with the happy-sunny-fast-food-and-good-times lifestyle of his new surroundings, a strong foundation for any young artist. After attending school for design and film, Leri delivered pizza in a Honda CRX for many years. Finally, he saved up $5,000. It was enough to make the move to Los Angeles, where he got to work building websites on his crappy old PC. His next move took him to San Francisco, where he made websites in Flash for SEGA. Finally, he moved to New Zealand and started working at Weta Workshop. His friend Greg Broadmore was already working there and hooked him up with a job, so the lesson is: make friends along the way. His film credits include District 9, Avatar, Elysium, Chappie and Mad Max: Fury Road.
